Pastposting is another method to cheat in blackjack. This method is simply that of making a bet on an outcome which is already known. This has been known as the best trick of all times and has been used very widely for roulette and craps and in some cases for blackjack too. In the earlier years, a player would have been able to get away with placing a late bet if there were some distractions. However, in the modern day with cameras everywhere, even though the dealer would not notice it the surveillance cameras would surely pick it up.
History of Pastposting
It was in the year 2001 that a man had been caught pastposting in a casino. Originally, the method had been used for horse race betting and when it gained instant success there, the method was widely adapted to use in casinos as well. A man named Mumbles was considered as the father of pastposting since he had been allegedly the first one to use the technique at a casino at the roulette table in the 1950s. From then on, there have been several more players who have successfully used the trick in casinos not just for roulette but also for craps and blackjack.
How is Pastposting Done?

Pastposting is quite a smooth move and when done correctly it works quite well without anyone being able to detect. Standing or sitting the farthest from the dealer, the cheater would place what would appear to be three $5 chips or any other chips of smaller denomination. However, a higher value chips is placed at the bottom of the stack in such a way that the dealer would fail to see the chip. If the bet loses, the player would just rake of the chips and then replace the higher value chips with a normal $5 chip.
If at all the player is caught raking, and raking is illegal, he would just give an explanation and profusely apologize. If the bet wins, the player would act surprised as if the bet had been placed at the accident and would get paid according to the higher value bet. If at all the casino would look at the tape later on, it would be able to just verify the bet. If the bet does hit, the player would keep playing and would continue to give some of the money back to the casino by losing a few hands.
Does Pastposting Work?
Pastposting can work at times and cannot work at times, depending on the way the player performs the cheat. If the player is smart and uses very swift and effortless motions to slip in and slip away the bets without the dealer noticing, the trick can work. However, there is the “eye in the sky” to think of too. Several times, when there is quite a lot of distraction at the table the dealer might not be able to notice the move but the surveillance cameras would always notice it.
