Blackjack has been one of the most loved and most popular card games of all times. Since centuries, the game has been played in some form or the other, from the ancient Vingt Et Un to the Spanish 21, the game is played and loved by everyone now. However, even blackjack is not safe from cheating and gambling scam.
Cheating in blackjack has existed in some form probably as long as the game has been around as the players try to do whatever they can in order to win some easy money. With legal gambling becoming quite huge in the US, the popularity of blackjack too is spreading among players quite fast.
There are plenty of blackjack books which have been written in the past. However, most of these books have been based on blackjack strategies. Card counting has always been one of the most widely written topics in the world of blackjack as dozens of blackjack books have been written so far on card counting. However, there aren’t many books which have been written on cheating in blackjack. There are only a handful of books which have been written on cheating or the legal implications of cheating in blackjack.
How to Detect Casino Cheating at Blackjack
“How to detect casino cheating at blackjack” is a book written by Bill Zender. He is a former Nevada Gaming Control Agent and had been the director of the operations at the Aladdin casino. He has been known as one of the most progressive and thoughtful insiders in the business. His mathematical analysis and his training methods of the games gave the casino one of the highest hold percentage in Nevada.
In this book, he has tackled a controversial topic, that of the players being cheated at blackjack by the casinos. Though it is quite strange that a book has been written on this topic, what is even stranger is that it has been written by an insider. However, Zender has much experience in the field and coming from him, the book is quite interesting.
Blackjack and the Law
The book is based on a few articles written by a person who is thought of as the foremost authority on the legal aspects in the US for gambling, Nelson Rose. Over the years, these articles have appeared in several publications like the Card Player and also in the Blackjack Forum. Every article has been amended and edited by Robert Loeb, who is also considered an authority on the gambling legal aspects in the US. There is also a commentary which is added by Loeb at the end of every article which provides a viewpoint on the topic.
The book covers several different topics like the Indian Reservations and Gambling, internet blackjack, taxes, device laws, back rooming, casino counter measures, card counting and player barring along with many other topics. The future of the industry, the criticism of the lottery systems and the legal gambling cycles in the US have also been discussed at great length in the book.
